D. Stevens 1" Jewel AB Herringbone Aurora Borealis Ribbon | Gold Metallic Wired Trim
D Stevens Chevron Beaded Ribbon 1" | AB Herringbone Jewel Jeweled Ribbon | Pick Gold or Hot Pink/Fuschia.
A little jewel box in ribbon form.
This spectacular 1-inch wired ribbon by D. Stevens Fine Ribbons combines a rich metallic gold ground with rows of brilliant AB jewel embellishments arranged in a herringbone pattern. As the ribbon moves, the stones flash with shifting notes of ruby, emerald, sapphire, violet, amber, and gold.
The effect is wonderfully exuberant. From a distance, it reads as a beautifully embellished gold ribbon; up close, all those tiny unexpected colors begin to appear.
At only one inch wide, it offers a concentrated dose of color and sparkle—perfect when a larger embellished ribbon would simply be too much.
Why We Chose It
Gold ribbon is a classic, but the tiny flashes of jewel tones make this one far more interesting. Depending on what you place beside it, you can draw out entirely different colors from the trim: burgundy makes the reds appear, forest green finds the emerald, navy brings forward the blue, and plum picks up those wonderful violet notes.
That makes it an especially useful ribbon for the kind of decorating we love—layered, collected, colorful, and never too perfectly matched.
It reminds us of opening a box of old Christmas ornaments and discovering all those different colors, finishes, and bits of sparkle together. Nothing is quite identical, but somehow it all belongs.
How We’d Style It
For Christmas, we'd embrace those jewel tones rather than treating this as simply a gold ribbon.
Layer it with burgundy, forest green, plum, navy, ruby red, or chocolate velvet, then add tartan, cedar, magnolia, antique brass, and a collection of old or mismatched ornaments. On a tree, small lengths could be tucked among the branches so the jeweled surface appears here and there rather than covering the entire tree.
It's also an ideal layering ribbon for bows. Run it through the center of a wider velvet, plaid, dupion, or floral ribbon to introduce a narrow line of brilliance and color. Because it's only one inch wide, you can add quite a lot of personality without changing the character of the larger ribbon underneath.
For autumn, we'd pull out the amber, green, burgundy, and violet notes by pairing it with dried hydrangeas, figs, pears, magnolia, plum, moss, rust, and dark foliage. It could be especially beautiful moving from late summer into fall, when the garden itself is full of mixed, changing color.
For New Year's and celebrations, let it be unabashedly festive. Gold candlesticks, champagne tones, jewel-colored glass, dark linens, and candlelight would give it an entirely different personality.
And throughout the year, we'd reach for it whenever something needs one small, marvelous detail—an ornament, petite bow, floral arrangement, wreath, tablescape, or handmade piece.
